Interesting. Again, not everyone seems to agree with you. There's clearly
a case (that you yourself have invoked) that it is possible to upgrade
hosts. Thus, it seems like this is not wholly out of the question.

I assume that you're referring to shim6. No, that doesn't at all imply that
we're done. One host solution does not imply that it is the correct
solution. In fact, as one of the original contributors to that effort, it's
pretty clear to me that it's very much a suboptimal 'solution' in that it
simply insulates the transport layer from the architectural changes that
need to be made.
